I spent most of yesterday on the uninspiring task of cleaning the basement. I got it all done except for the mopping. I saved that for today.
After dinner I had a couple of hours left on my audiobook and thought I’d try to get the borders done on Trailside.

I finished the borders with only 15 minutes of the book left. The borders add a lot to this quilt. It needed to have all that beige toned down a bit. I have the backing dyed already so I might put this on the frame soon. It will quilt up quickly with a pantograph.
Not only did I time it well with the book but I won at thread chicken too.

I have so many cones of thread and am always happy to empty one. This is just my collection of piecing thread, mostly Masterpiece. I use any of the light colors for white or cream. As long as the machine tension is good, the thread color doesn’t matter all that much.

The only colors I’ve bought are black and white. I think I’m well stocked for several years.
Today we’re off to a cookout and the I’ll get back to the basement.
