We had such a wonderful vacation. A well-behaved and adorable 2 year old really perks up a vacation week. On top of that we had the most wonderful weather and I got a great jump start on stocking up vitamin D. I feel very bad for the people vacationing in the Outer Banks this week. They are not having nearly as nice weather.
After unpacking and doing laundry I decided that the best first project on Memorial Day weekend would be to work on veterans quilts.

I had this “single” set up before I left so it was ready to go. I’m not sure who made this one but it’s made with pinwheel blocks that some of the members are exchanging this year. I expect to see lots of pinwheel quilt tops later this year.
I got the next 2 quilts loaded and the first row quilted before my back needed a break.

I’ll get back to this later today after I clean the basement. I vacuum and mop the basement after woodstove season every year. I’m a little late this year!
I ended the day making some lotion. If you have never tried making lotion, I can tell you that it’s so incredibly easy and you can do it with inexpensive store ingredients. There are loads of recipes on the web. It literally takes about 15 minutes. The cleanup is the longest part.

I make about 20 ounces at a time and split it between 3 bottles. The don’t contain preservatives so I keep the bottles in the refrigerator until I need them. This batch will probably last about 6 months.
