Weekend happenings

We had a nice hot and sunny weekend so I was happy to spend half of Saturday outside dealing with miles of weeds.

When I finally got down to sewing I decided it was time to make the pet beds. I had a lot of chopped up batting taking up too much space.

The fabric is all decorator fabrics the I’ve gotten free. We get a lot of donated fabric through quilt club and I often take the decorator weight fabrics for the pet beds. I think this one might have some silk in it!

I had enough batting scraps to make 4 large and 2 medium beds.

I give these to a friend who volunteers at Richmond Animal League. She says they love them. I’m just happy that I  kept all this out of the landfill a little longer.

Sunday was split between quilting and cutting.  I’m about a third done with the ditch quilting on Eclipse.

Later I started cutting the background of Flourish.

Cutting white fabric isn’t all that interesting but I’ll be happy when I’m sewing in Maine.

I have about 300 squares left to cut out.

Today I’m planning more quilting and cutting.
