A good day

Friday was quite productive around here. I started the day by getting the binding on this veterans quilt.

This quilt proves that even the ugliest fabric can be beautiful if cut small enough.  The star fabric is one of the ugliest fabrics that I ever dyed but, cut into small pieces, sparkles in this quilt. I cut the binding when I cut out the quilt kit and I remember not being confident about it. But, at the time, it was the only fabric of the 3 that had enough left for binding so Ihad to go with it. I was even more unsure about it while I was sewing it on. Once I stepped back from the quilt, I  loved it.

After that success I finally gave in to hemming some new shorts.

What a pain in the neck. These shorts were made sturdy and took forever to unsew. Seriously, this little job took almost 2 hours! I want to buy another pair but I’m not sure I want to hem them.

Next I got the lap quilt ready to load. I decided to save the ice dyed backing for a future quilt. I might get this loaded today. I’m considering quilting it with neon thread.

I ended the day working on the brown and green quilt. It’s coming along nicely!

Chris checked the Bluebird boxes yesterday and we have another nest coming along! Then later in the day he spotted the white skunk. It’s been around a few years but we don’t often see it.
