I had a couple of free hours yesterday afternoon and I started putting away things from quilt club sewing days. I just couldn’t bring myself to pack away a veterans quilt top so close to being done.
The photo shows the red as being more purple. It’s really a dark maroon. I think it turned out surprisingly pretty, even elegant.
I went to put it away in the “quilt top closet” and was reminded where the red and gold fabrics came from.
They are the leftovers from the Red Sunset quilt that I made in 2024. I still have some leftovers from that quilt. I hope I can make them into something as nice as this new veterans quilt.
I had some time left so I worked on two other projects. I sewed one more column on the Fish quilt.
The columns will have 2″ sashing. That’s going to be a unique challenge to piece the gradient 72″ long from a 40″ wide gradient.
I also took another stab at pulling some fabrics for the backing of Fleurette.
I remembered a length of pale yellow and when I searched for it I found this vintage daisy print. I also have a yard of the same green that I used for the binding. I like this brown print but have never been able to find a good project for it. I think I might be able to make these work in horizontal stripes.
The other photo is some spider webs I saw in a tree this morning. The sun was shining at just the right angle to show them off.
This weekend I’ll be doing a lot of yard work but also, hopefully, a lot of sewing.
