Bears are cut out

I don’t have a lot to share today. We’ve ben relaxing and hanging out with friends. We have friends from Charlottesville who spend all winter here. Bill and Laurie are the ones who introduced us to Tucson. But this week some other friends from DC, Matt and Anne have been in town. Chris and Matt got to play some golf. Laurie, Anne and I checked out the Tucson Museum of Art. It a wonderful gallery space with lots of different kinds of art with special exhibits of indigenous art. We really enjoyed it and also enjoyed a visit to a local yarn shop.

I only took one photo to show that anything can be a canvas.

Yesterday was a rainy day. They call it rain here. At home we call it light showers. But it was a good excuse to cut out the bear blocks for the Monty quilt.

Today I’m going with Laurie to a lecture on native rugs. It’s supposed to rain today too so that will be a great excuse to stay inside and sew in the afternoon.

Yes, art can be made with almost anything if it inspires the artist. I love the ironing board paintings. I hope the lecture on native rugs was enjoyable.

Sounds like you are having a great time. We have freezing rain and snow, not going anywhere for a couple of days. It is a good time for a meal in the slow cooker, football on TV, and sew all day tomorrow.

Interesting to see what some folks find to use as a canvas – very inspired.

Wouldn’t want a wind storm to blow through all those perfectly sorted pieces!!

Can’t say I have seen ironing boards used as a canvas before but why not! I have seen saw blades and other farm implements used as it.

Glad you’re enjoying your visit to AZ. Can’t say I’ve seen ironing boards used as a painting canvas before, but it’s certainly creative. You might like to check out Tubac for arts, and if you haven’t seen Mission San Xavier del Bac, it’s worth a visit.
Here in AZ we measure rain by the 100th of an inch. Every drop counts!
