Fleurette quilt top done

My main goal yesterday was to finish the Fleurette quilt top. I did that and teo loads of laundry.

I’m really happy with this one! I’d love to finish it soon because I have a recipient in mind. But I’m really stuck on finding a backing. I don’t think hand dyed is right for this one but I can’t find a commercial one that I like either. I might have to go with white.

Next up I have 2 things to work on. I’ve got to get a baby quilt designed and fabric dyed for it. I looked for fabric while I was on vacation but couldn’t find anything in the right colors.

The other project is the Fish quilt. I put the blocks on the design wall last night.

I’ll add in the sashing pieces today. That will really make the fish stand out. This one is put together in columns. I see that I have rows 1 and 3 switched. I’ll fix that too!

During the game last night I frogged the blanket and got back to re-stitching the rows.

Today I’m hoping to get in some yard work before I get back in the sewing room.

    If you have any larger pieces of the fabric you used in the border, maybe 3 pieces, you could do a series of horizontal bands for the backing. Would look great with the front.

    The Fleurette quilt top looks great. I think a green backing would look good with it. But I like Linda’s suggestion of a pieced back also.

    I will enjoy seeing the fish quilt top finished.

    A thought (I know, it was a painful process!) but what if you made another of the flower blocks and included it on the back? Perhaps border it with smaller pieces of what you used for the border. Then, if you have to use white, at least it will break it up somewhat and look intentional. Just a thought!

    Love how the Fleurette quilt turned out. Great use of feedsack fabrics.

    Question off topic–I have lots of batting leftovers and we have a new pet shelter that I would like to make beds for. Do you layer the batting or cut it into strips, chunks or ?
