Hopefully today I’ll be able to deliver these 11 hats plus the wheelchair blanket to a local charity here in Maine. This Chunky Guy hat pattern is so easy and I could make a hat in less than 2 hours. This particular version is for 5 weight yarn but she has pattern versions available for 4 and 6 weight too. I usually make large and extra large sizes. These are all large except for the bottom roes of XL. If I can deliver these I’ll have plenty of room in the car for the fabric that I bought!

Yesterday we started off with a hike. It was a really beautiful morning.  We wanted to hike the Bubbles but the parking lot was full so we headed to Jordan Pond. Jordan Pond is one of the busiest areas of the park but also has the most parking.  There are a lot of trail options from here.

We chose the Triad trail because we thought we had not done it before. It turns out that we had hiked it before but it’s been years.

It’s a beautiful hike with lots of different trail conditions and it’s not terribly difficult. The best part was that we had the trail to ourselves until we were near the carriage trail that we took back to the car.

We saw glacial erratics and there was a huge granite face to walk down.

Fall is definitely in the air here.

In the late afternoon we took the kayaks out. Pretty quickly the wind kicked up a little so I got in some good exercise.

I mentioned that we discovered that we had hiked Triad before. We know that because we have one trail map that we mark when we hike a new trail or carriage road.

All of the dark red are hiked trails. We added several new ones this year.

We added Pemetic East.

We also did Eliot Mountain and a section of the Harbor Brook. Ian is great at planning out our hikes.

We hope to get out for one more hike tomorrow before we pack up and head home.

That’s an incredible amount of trails in a relatively small area! Hope you get one more in tomorrow – fingers crossed the weather cooperates.

What a wonderful gesture to donate handmade hats and wheelchair blankets to an area you’ve vacationed in!

And what a lot of hiking! Maine is such a beautiful state.
