My Fleurette quilt is coming along nicely.

I have half of the blocks done! The lighting is not great in this house and it was late in the day when I laid these blocks out. They will not have sashing so the quilt will look very much like this. I’m really happy with it. The blocks do take a while to put together because each one has 57 pieces. But I’m enjoying the process.

I’m trying to do 2 a day but I skipped yesterday.

The crochet projects continue as well.

I work a little on the blanket in the afternoon and then a little on hats at night. The big stitches on the hats are easier to see in low evening light.

Since I last posted about vacation, we hiked Eliot Mountain. It wasn’t terribly challenging but it was a very nice hike with some pretty scenery along a brook.

The brook was mostly dry which is pretty normal for this late in the season.

On Sunday we took an easy day. I got in a 1.5 hour kayak while the sun was out and the wind was low.

Yesterday the boys played golf while Laura and I took a nature boat ride out of Bass Harbor. I have taken this ride before but it’s been a few years.

We saw beautiful scenery, lots of different sea birds, harbor seals and about a dozen eagles.  One of the photos below is marked with 2 arrows. One points to an adult eagle and one to a juvenile that no one saw until it took flight.

We also saw a commercial Atlantic salmon fishery and hauled in one lobster trap. The guide explained a lot about the history of Maine and lobster fishing. It was very interesting and a beautiful day to be on the water.

If the weather holds, the boys and I will be out for my favorite hike in the whole park: Pemetic Mountain.

Love Maine lobster! There is a food truck here that has it, and comes to a brewery here once a month.

That lobster has some nice (and big) looking claws!

I’m impressed with how many activities you’re packing into your vacation. The kayaking and hiking look fun. I love to be out on the water but hardly ever get a chance to do it.

Your flower blocks have a lot more pieces than I would have guessed! And what a nice gesture to make hats to donate to folks in Maine when the cold weather comes.

    Keep having fun!
