It was a pretty good weekend around here. My big allergic reaction seems to have finally passed (after 2 weeks) so I was comfortable enough to get back to my projects.  I admit that I did waste some time watching the World Cup with Chris. I’ve never been much of a soccer fan but felt that I should celebrate that the games are in North and Central America.

I spent Saturday with Eclipse getting it on the longarm. Let me tell you, it was a challenge. This quilt was stretched all out of shape.

I think that storing it hanging was probably a mistake. You can look at the pattern and see that there’s bias everywhere and, I believe that hanging it for over 6 months months messed it up.  I had to start in the middle, basted to the bottom and the go back and to the middle to the top. I did a bit of steaming too. I eventually beat it back into shape.

I’m starting be doing all of the ditch stitching to stabilize it.

I did the center starburst and am working my way around the edges. I pushed my back a little too much Saturday so I took yesterday off  from the longarm.

Sunday was the day to work on the Monty scraps.

I had my plans all set. The first step was to frame all of the blocks. From there I had 3 fabrics left to use.

I have more dark brown, a medium green and  the green/brown gradient.  The plan was to sash the blocks in the green and add a green border, then a narrow dark brown border and then a wide gradient border.  I did some calculations and I just don’t have enough of the green. Today I need to come up with a plan B. At least the blocks look good framed so it’s a start.

I should have time to work on one of these projects today.  I won’t be going anywhere because today is the day that this project starts

It’s finally time to replace our old steam shower before the shower doors fall out. It took a long time to even find someone willing to do this relatively small job. I’ll be around but plan to stay out of their way.

Nature gave us some highlights this weekend too. We checked on the Wren nest last evening. I don’t know why they love propane tanks but the seem to love it and my car bumper. I will not let them nest in my bumper but they don’t do any damage to the propane tank.

Yesterday morning we also found this new fawn right outside my sewing room. The doe was nearby. They both disappeared when the lawn guy showed up to mow. I’m sure we’ll see them out in the front yard again soon.
