One more veterans quilt

I started vacation packing yesterday but I had plenty of time to get one more veterans quilt quilted.

Mom made this one. It’s based on a quilt that we saw hanging in the Virginia Quilt Museum gift shop. She found the batik fabrics in the Patchwork Plus quilt shop just down the road from the museum.

I quilted it with freemotion leaves.

I mistakenly thought that the gold thread would show up on the quilt. I think that all thread hides on batik fabrics. The leaf motifs works well with the fabrics.

The backing is pieces from the bolt end. I have a stack of these that I’m trying to start using up. They just require 1 seam and they are big enough for one quilt. This quilt got a pieced back and a pieced batting. I felt very frugal!

The gold color was just perfect for this quilt.

After vacation I’ll have 5 veterans quilts left to quilt. If all goes to plan, I’ll get one loaded today.
