The blanket is finished!

Do you get near the end of a project and reach a point where you can’t focus on anything else except finishing that one project? That seems to be how I operate and that’s how I was with the crochet blanket yesterday. I just had to finish it.

This is one of my favorite patterns. It’s so easy but still has a nice texture to make it not boring. I like it so much that this is the 9th one that I’ve made with this pattern and yarn. I found the yarn (Universal Cartwheel) on Webs after it had been discontinued. I made one blanket and loved the yarn so much that I bought it in every color available (that I liked).

The pattern is from Crystal at BagODay on YouTube. I used a K hook for every blanket. For the biggest blanket, the one I made for Chris, I started with 171 chains and made a blanket that is 58″ x 76″. It’s huge.

The others are made a little smaller by chaining 144 stitches. The one I finished yesterday is a little smaller because I had less yarn. I chained 131 stitches. The blanket is plenty big at 48 x 66. I had 2 Colorways of the yarn leftover but not enough of either to make anything. I combined both, alternating colors, to make this blanket. I think it turned out fine. This will be a donation blanket.

These are the other blankets I’ve made in this “series” shown in the order that I made them. The first one, for Chris, was made is 2021. The next 3 were for my brothers and I made most of those in 2022. At that point I started calling them the “dude blanket” since I was making them all for men. The middle one was made for my husband’s best friend. The red/white/blue one was made for my cousin’s husband. The grayish one has a lot of pink in it so I gifted it to my doctor. She keeps it in her office to use on her legs in the winter. It actually looks great on her gray furniture. The last one hasn’t been gifted yet.

The one I finished yesterday will be a donation blanket. I will certainly make this pattern again but I won’t get to use this fabulous yarn again. I think Premier Puzzle would work really well in this pattern.

For some reason I could not post a comment on Friday’s post so here it is – Yep, the deer won’t touch daffodils or Lenten Roses and mine are just fine. They also won’t touch lavender, Shasta Daisies, California Poppies, and most ornamental grasses. They will eat lupine which is a small flowering grass like plant. They seem to leave my coneflowers alone too. Patty
