April Accomplishments and May Plans

I ended April by quilting 2 veterans quilts. The one on the left was made by Ellen and she gave me permission to add a border. I think this rusty orange worked out well. The one on the right was made by Peg.

Peg shared this pattern with me a few month ago and I intended to make a veterans quilt kit from it. I ran out of steam before I got to this pattern but I have it set aside for the future. It’s easy to figure out if you are interested. It’s based on a 6″ block so there’s a 6.5″ block and a block made with pieces that are cut 4.5″ x 3.5″ and 2.5″ x 3.5″. The hard part is keeping up with them as you sew but that it’s really all that hard.

Back to April. My goals were:
– dye and decorate tshirts for Cora, I got them all dyed and only have 4 left to make.
– quilt Mom’s quilt – done!
– finish the big crochet blanket – done!
finish 1 more veterans quilt – 2 done!
– cut out a quilt top for the Month scraps – done and all the blocks are pieced
– make some new postcards – not done, but planned for this weekend

The quilty things for April were 2 veterans quilts and quilting Mom’s big quilt

The other finishes are Cora’s shirts and the crochet blanket.

Mom’s quilt was the big finish for the month and we are both really happy with it. I’m mostly glad that I don’t have to bind it!

For May, we have a week of vacation with the family. I usually make a gift for everyone but this year I purchased gifts. Here’s what I want to accomplish:

  • Quilt at least 6 more veterans quilts
  • Finish one veterans quilt of my own
  • Make postcards for Mother’s Day and birthdays
  • Put the Monty scraps quilt together (brown and green scraps – this quilt needs a name)
  • Quilt one of the 4 other quilts that I have in the closet.

I like the design of the blue/cream quilt. And I also like how that brick red (or maybe brown) is arranged I don’t know if it was intended but it is an interesting look

You had a great month of finishes! You are so prolific, and get an amazing amount of work done.

That was a good productive month. I have seen the pattern that Peg used made with Kaffe collective fabrics. I thought it was one long block but that makes sense to be 2 blocks for each fabric.

You did well with ticking things off your list!
