My goal was to cut quilts through the weekend and that is about how long my fun lasted. I got 7 more kits cut over the weekend and I’m really looking forward to making every one of the quilts. But, I’m officially over cutting fabric for now.

I started with the Go cutter and the 6″ HST die. This print fabric has been hanging around a couple of years and has been very uninspiring. This weekend I came up this HST design. The prints will be the blue, dark blue will be the white and light blue will be the red.

Next, I needed to use the light print ant it will be the background. I’m not sure which layout I’ll use yet.

This is one that I’ve made several times in different colors. One will have an all blue background. The other will be beige with a green border. The stars will be scrappy hand dyes.

This is absolutely the fastest quilt to make. I finished one last month. It’s a good way to use these big flag prints. I’ll probably try to avoid big prints like these in the future.

This is the last kit I cut. I just wanted to use up these 2 blues.

After I was done I had a couple of almost-empty scrap baskets and I reduced the patriotic stash to these few bits. I like to keep some bits of fabric available because I might have mis-cut something.

Here are all the kits ready to go. Including the few that were left from before and the two that I’m working on, I have 26 quilts ready to make. I don’t have to think about veterans quilts for at least 2 years!

Here are the “patterns” that I didn’t use this time. I’ll save them for a future project.
After I cleaned up the sewing room, I was itching to sew so I fixed the 9 blocks that I sewed wrong Thursday. I put all the blocks on the design wall to organize them in rows. I’ll sew the top together next month.
Today I’m loading Mom’s quilt on the longarm.
