Monty, Friends and the VQM

I completely forgot to post yesterday.

But if I had remembered, this is all I would have posted. I got the last border on Monty. Next up is dyeing a backing. For now, though, it will co in the To Be Quilted closet.

I also got 2 veterans quilts loaded and basted so I’ll start quilting them today while it’s raining outside.

Yesterday I didn’t do any making because Mom and I headed to Harrisonburg to spend the day with Mary of Mary Quilts. She has photos of us there if you want to see us together.

We had a little picnic lunch and it was great to catch up. Then we headed to the Virginia Quilt Museum to see the latest exhibits and ended the day fabric shopping at Patchwork Plus. I found a pattern that I want to use with my leftover Monty fabrics but the were only selling it as a kit. Fortunately, I  found it online. I made another pattern by this company last year and really enjoyed it. Mom and Mary found fabric that they needed.

There were several exhibits at the museum but the one that blew me away was Vanishing by Holly Cole. You can see the influence of her theater costume career in the pieces. Here are the photos

If you get an opportunity, you need to see this exhibit in person.

I’m Vicki

I’m Vicki Welsh and I’ve been making things as long as I can remember. I used to be a garment maker but transitioned to quilts about 20 years ago. Currently I’m into fabric dyeing, quilting, Zentangle, fabric postcards, fused glass and mosaic. I document my adventures here.
