Things didn’t go as planned.

We had a great Thanksgiving with the family. I did a good amount of online shopping Friday and got outside for more leaf blowing Saturday.  After that I started restocking the firewood next to the house. I was on my last trip and picked up one piece and that’s when my lower back flipped out. Next thing I knew, I was on the ground trying to figure out how to stand up. Fortunately,  Chris came outside and came to the rescue.  He got me inside and I  have been taking it easy since.

I found that standing isn’t painful at all so I got some fabrics fused for postcard backs.  I got then cut out and fused to the cards.

The Christmas cards are ready for edges. Fortunately,  I  had already gotten the serger set up and my sewing chair is very comfortable. I’ll work on these today after a trip to the acupuncturist and a $3000 visit from a tree service.  We have 3 trees that need to come down and 7 more that need trimming. They are tall enough to require a bucket truck. It will be fun to watch. Not so fun to write the check.

I also remembered that I needed cards for December birthdays! I need to get these finished today too.

Lots to do!

I haven’t been too unproductive this weekend.  There’s been lots of time to crochet!

hope the back isn’t too painful as it sounds like you have a lot to do. I know what you mean about the tree service I think that is about what we paid last time.

Sorry to hear about your back. I hope it feels better quickly! It’s the time of the year when we all have so much we would like to do.

Tree service is expensive, but 3 grand to take down 3 trees and trim the others is a pretty great price. Will they be leaving the parts that can be cut up for firewood?

Sometimes the simplest action can affect the back. I hope you recover fast. The Christmas postcards are looking good.

With these kind of injuries it is difficult to pinpoint where to place the ice pak or the heating pad. Sounds like you were more tired than you realized. Hope that it is better soon.

So sorry to learn about your back. It sounds like it is not keeping you from accomplishing a lot anyway. But I will say to you what I say to my DH when his back is giving him trouble…”don’t over do.” I know it is hard for “do-ers” to slow down. 🙂

Having had my share of back issues, you have my sympathy. You also have my sympathy on the “writing the check” as several years ago, I had 5 very tall pines that had to come down. (My wallet said “ouch”) But based on my experience, you are getting a good deal.

Hope your back is feeling better. I know how it feels.

It may not seem like it, but that tree service bill sounds like a good deal to me. We spent a lot of money having Helene debris cleared, and the last time we had just one tree taken down (it was about 150 ft tall), it cost $2k. But, on our mountain, it is next to impossible to get a bucket truck where it would need to be, so the guys had to climb and take it down from the top with chain saws.

Ouch, on both fronts! Must be something in the air because I tweaked my back on Monday hauling a cart across the snow and ice to the car. Maybe there’s truth to the old adage that misery loves company?
