Project updates

I don’t have any vacation photos to share today. It was another day of perfect weather but my shoulders wanted a day off from kayaking. My hip still has some soreness so I’m not in a hurry to get on a hiking trail. I’ll take a few more days of ibuprophen before we hit a trail. Yesterday, we went into Farmington, the closest small city. There are some cute shops, including a quilt shop. I didn’t take any photos but I will the next time I go in. We had a long float in the lake and otherwise, I worked on my quilt and did some crochet.

I’m about halfway finished with the B2 blocks. I should finish these today.

If you do foundation piecing, especially Judy Neimeyer quilts, you will know that there’s a bit of waste. For this project I’m actually sorting my trash because that’s the kind of crazy person that I am. I put the larger piece in the left bin and “real trash” in the right bin. I see the large scraps becoming crumb blocks or mayne scrappy placemats. Whatever happens, they will be fun to play with.

On the crochet project, I’ve finished off one skein and I think it will take 4 total for this wheelchair blanket. The orange marker is where I was at the last update.

Today I’m back in the kayak, doing some laundry and more sewing. We’re planning lobster for dinner!

I do the same thing with “scraps” – if they are big enough to use in a crumb block, they get saved.
Nice work on the wheelchair blanket.

You’re making great progress on the blanket. I like working with multi-coloured yarns like that because it keeps me from getting bored as I look forward to the next colour change. That’s why I could never knit a plain coloured pair of socks – I need variety.

There is nothing better than picture perfect weather on a vacation. It looks like good progress on the quilt, and I would be saving the larger scraps too.
