Before I even start packing my clothes, I always pack my projects first. My quilt project has been ready for about a month. Yesterday I got the crochet projects together. I start with the car projects. I’m not the best passenger so it’s good for me to be distracted while we ride.

I will alternate between these two projects. On the left will be a donation shawl. I got the first two rows set up so that I wouldn’t have to do counting in the moving car. On the right is the scarf that I’ve been working on since Spring. I think I have about 20 inches left and still one more ball of yarn. I think I’ll have enough yard to do a headband with the leftovers. The yarn was expensive enough that I am determined to use all of it.

The other project that I have going on is this big blanket. It will be a donation blanket like this one. I was going to take it but it’s just too bulky to fit in the car and to work on.

Instead I’m taking this yarn to make a small wheelchair blanket. I got this yarn one year at the Hobby Lobby sale. It was less than a dollar for each skein. I think I’ll do a simple blanket stitch so that I can crochet fast and easy while talking to our visiting friends.

Last week I got the last two fo my sewing machines back from servicing. If you are in the Richmond area, I highly recommend All Things New for sewing machine repair. My poor Juki TL-98E is been well used over the years. My needle plate was so worn that it was time to buy a new one. Besides all the dings around the needle hole, that area has actually worn thin! The new one is installed and I’m ready to sew again when I get back from vacation.
We leave in the morning and I’ll try to do updates along the way.
