A new crochet blanket
Crochet Blanket, 38″ x 57″, for donation

I should have two crochet finishes this month. This blanket was already close to done last week and I have a shawl just waiting for the finishing rounds. This will be a donation blanket, most likely for a chemo or dialysis patient.

The finished size is 38″ x 57″. I think that will be a good size for someone getting infusion treatment. My understanding is that people get really cold during infusion treatments. Hopefully, this will provide some comfort to someone.

The yarn is Sundance Scramble from Herrschners. It’s a fine yarn to work with. I made a baby blanket last year in a different colorway. I felt that this colorway had more of an adult vibe so I made something bigger. When I was working on the first blanket I was making and washing test swatches and, honestly, I didn’t love the washed effect. I think that over time, this yarn might pill. Usually blankets don’t get washed very often and that’s good for this one.

Here are all the details:

Pattern is Sentimental Shells Throw from Yarnspirations and it was fun to work. It’s easy to remember but isn’t boring because it changes stitches across the row.
I chained 130ish, pattern calls for 156
J-10 hook

The pattern is a combination of filet crochet and shells and is very easy to follow.

When I started I made a mistake on the sides and did 3 double crochet at each end. I wasn’t going to undo that so I kept going and it created a nice side border. After I finished the blanket I added 3 rows of single crochet to the top and bottom edges.

Before doing the top and bottom edging I did try the border from the pattern but just couldn’t figure it out. I am certain that it’s not a pattern writing issue. Yarnspiration patterns are always very good. I think I just couldn’t understand it. In the end, I like what I came up with in the end.

I have already started another blanket that will likely go with me to Maine to work on. I forgot to take a photo but will get one in a couple of days.

I am sure someone will appreciate the warmth of both the blanket and your heart.
