Spa day

Spa day

It’s spa day for the sewing machines, not me. I’m not a spa kind of girl. I don’t really love strangers touching me. But these machines are due for some TLC. The Juki, my favorite machine by far, is well overdue. I’ve had this machine over 30 years and I think it’s been serviced twice. But it’s got some serious mileage on it and the tension mechanism could use a rebuild. It also can benefit from a deep clean.
The Janome 415 is a machine that I got from an estate sale. It runs fine but I thought it might appreciate a good cleaning too.

With the heavy Juki gone, I could finally unbolt it’s table from the wall and raise it an inch and a half. I also raised the other sewing table a bit as well. I got the adjustable table legs from Ikea and they work great. They don’t have my style of legs anymore but they do have these. We built the table on the left from an old cabinet top but the other two tables are old folding tables. I removed the legs and replaced them with adjustable ones.

While doing that I was also able to vacuum some normally unreachable areas. Ooooh, it was bad under there. I also cleaned off the tables and got a lot of stuff put away properly.

While I was cleaning up I found this bag of tiny HST blocks. These were made with the scraps from the Big Blue Quilt.  I think these will be a fine for some mindless sewing while I work on setting up the new blog and website.

I’m going to start by sewing them together in pairs and see how far that gets me. I’m not paying attend to the alignment or colors of the blocks. I’m just sewing them together randomly. It will be a nice break from the computer and give me some good book listening time.

I did the other test comment from my phone. Let’s see if this one works with my VPN turned on.
