The great vacation continues. Friday was a pretty quiet day. It was foggy and a bit dreary so we headed into Bar Harbor to do some shopping and walking. Today, on the other hand, was spectacular. I got in a long kayak session in the morning and about an hour on the float in the river. More on the kayaking later. First a craft update.

The new crochet blanket is coming along.

This is the Virginia Tech baby blanket. These colors aren’t showing true, especially the orange. It’s a true bright orange. This is one of the many gingham patterns from Daisy Farm Crafts. Once you get going, they are fun and easy to crochet. DK weight yarn makes a really soft, but sturdy, blanket.

I’ve made progress on the quilt too.

I’ve been calling this the Flourish quilt but the pattern is actually Fleurette. I very much like how it’s coming together.

When I went kayaking this morning I did what I call the left side of the lake. It’s the busiest area because it’s has the public access point. But even when it’s busy, it’s not really busy. I like this side because there’s a very quiet cove that no one visits. I’ve never been in there with anyone else.

It’s quite shallow and very peaceful.  At the far end are the fish ladders.

Here’s a close up.

I don’t know if they actually work but I found this articlesees about work they have done to improve them. There are several ladders along the path and the one I photo isn’t included in the article.  My impression is that they have been of limited success.

It was still a very pretty outing and a good bit of exercise to offset some of the indulgent eating that I’ve been doing.

Hopefully, we’ll be off on a hike tomorrow.
