Ready for binding

Ready for binding

Yesterday I was determined to get the 2 veterans quilts quilted and I accomplished that after taking care of some errands.

They are now trimmed and ready for binding. I plan on that being today’s goal along with adding a border to this top.

Someone else made this cute top but it’s a little small for a veterans quilts.  That can easily be rectified with a border. I’m sure I can find something in the stash that will work.

While I was out yesterday I delivered Mom’s quilt, did the monthly pest extermination at her place and ours are delivered some fabrics to a local charity contact. Christine works with Lutheran World Relief and takes all fabric donations. What they can’t use, she knows other local charities to deliver to.  It’s awesome.

She also gets donations of linens and she started saving them for me for dyeing. I’m always happy to find linen and cotton napkins.

Unfortunately I brought home more than I gave her! I’m the last hope for this stuff so much of it may end up in the landfill. It’s sad, but at least people tried to find uses for them. I’ll start sorting through it today.

We checked on the Bluebirds yesterday and they seem very healthy and close to fledging.

We won’t bother them again. We don’t want to spook them into fledging early. I hope we get a second brood.

The “black” irises are going gangbusters this year.

Yay for finishing the quilting on those two quilts. Nice that you can use the linens.

It’s nice having a larger stash when you work
