On the road

On the road

We’re on our way and, aside from some rain, it’s been wonderfully uneventful. Our route takes us through Oklahoma so we’re listening to a book called  Boom Town, about the history of Oklahoma City.

But before we left, I  had a few minutes of sewing time. I spotted a stack of quilted pieces to make fidget mats. I got out the serger and finished the edges and sewed on a soft patch for texture.  I was able to get far enough to pick zippers. I have 8 mats and 8 zippers. These can now wait until I have another sewing time void to fill.

Back on the road, I decided to work on the scarf for the first day. I have 2 skeins of yarn and tried to calculate a width that would use all the yarn and give me a 60″ scarf. I started the day with 12.5 inches complete. I finished with 1 skeins finished and 30″ of scarf length! It looks like it’s going to finish 60″ long. A crochet “v” stitch is a perfect travel stitch.

We had planned to go to downtown Nashville last night but we both agreed that it was too cold. Instead we found the Nashville version of Cheers. Everyone in the bar knew each other and they offered to move around to make room for us.

Did you have any effects from the Verizon outage yesterday? My phone went out but, luckily, Chris’ continued to work so we could check directions and stream Pandora. It’s kind of scary how lost I felt without my phone.

Off to Oklahoma City! Neither of us has ever been through Oklahoma before.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful trip so far! I have never been to Oklahoma, but someday my sister and I want to take a road trip to Tulsa to go to The Silver Needle dross stitch shop.

Are you returning home the same way? If you opt to take the northern route and will pass through St. Louis let me know. I’d love to meet you IRL for lunch or dinner. Safe travels!
