A finished blanket

I worked mostly on the memory quilt this weekend but it was mostly planning and there isn’t much to show for that! I decided that today I’d share my one crochet finish. This is a wheelchair blanket for donation. I like making these blankets because they are small and quick and I don’t overheat under them while making them. They finish around 30″ x 40″.

I love simple projects because I work on them while watching TV. Here are te details on this blanket. I know I will be making it again. It’s basically alternating single and double crochet stitches.

Pattern is Pin Stripe Blanket from Yarnspirations
Yarn is 4wt acrylic
J hook, chain 90 stitches
10 rows blue, 2 rows white for a total of 9 blue stripes and 8 white stripes.
Finished size 30″ x 42″

I’m still waiting on the yarn I need to finish the big blanket. It’s so close to being done and I’m anxious to get it wrapped up. I love Lion Brand yarns but ordering from them is always slow. I think it will be here by Friday.

Meanwhile, I have 2 new projects underway. I started this scarf on a recent car ride to Charlottesville. This will be a local travel project and I’ll probably just keep it in the car. My niece gave me 2 skeins of this yarn and I’m doing a simple “V” stitch.

I started this project last night. I’ve had the yarn in my stash over 5 years and it’s time to do something with it. This will be another wheelchair blanket. The pattern is from Daisy Farm Crafts and it was designed for chenille yarn. I made this as a baby blanket and used the chenille yarn. I loved the blanket but really didn’t enjoy (hated) working with that yarn. It will be easier in this 4wt acrylic. It’s all front and back post double crochet.

Today, Mom and I will meet my cousin for lunch and then run some errands. Then I’ll get back to driving myself mental with the memory quilt design.

The blanket turned out very pretty. I try never to go anywhere without a project. You never know when you might have a few minutes. Patty

Your finished blanket is so soft looking, I am sure the recipient will love it. And that bright variegated yarn is stunning!
