Starting the memory quilt

I honestly didn’t spend a lot of time in the sewing room this weekend.  Saturday saw us being social for a change. One of Chris’ best friends started dating a woman from Texas a few months ago. She was in Virginia this week so it was time for everyone to meet her. She was really lovely and it was great to see some othe friends again too.

Yesterday it was time to get started on the memory quilt. That required clearing off the cutting table. I think everyone of you can estimate how long that took!

But, I  eventually got all the shirts and other clothes out from the “must include” bag.

There was also a bag of pants that I can use if I want.

I’m having ideas about something small I might be able to do for the siblings with the leftovers.

For now, though, I  need to focus on the quilt. I’ll start trimming the tshirts today.

Last night I got all last of the Christmas postcards addressed and they are in the mail today! Glad to have that task done!

Yes I understand how long it takes to get the work area cleaned up so you can start another project. It is so easy to get sidetracked! I had to do a bit of straightening up to make room for all the pieces for that Georgia tote bag. I have a commission t-shirt quilt that I think I will start over Christmas. I plan on taking a couple weeks off of work so I ought to be able to put a good dent in it. Patty

Wow, the postcards are in the mail already! You are speedy. I know it takes a long time to address all of them and write the messages. And, they are so appreciated.

You really got going with the postcards. I am impressed.

I haven’t made quilts with the pants, but I have used khakis as sashing and backing for pillows. It might be a little harder to quilt over.

I still haven’t begun my cards yet! I have been spending all my spare time on the Christmas quilt. Looks like your memory quilt will be quite a project.
