November Accomplishments and December Goals

First, a side note. Thank you for the comments about my back injury. I’m happy to report that it’s MUCH better! I know many of you will think this is strange but I want to share how I’ve been treating it. I’m using a combination of grounding mat, DMSO and red light therapy. I know they have all contributed but I’m convinced that the grounding mat has had the biggest impact. I have had this exact injury before and I can tell you that the recovery time is less than half the last time. For what it’s worth, that’s what has worked for me. On Saturday, I could barely get out of my chair without assistance. Tomorrow, I’ll be doing light exercise again.

November did not end with a lot of finishes but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t make good progress.

For November my goals were:
– quilt a Christmas quilt for my friend, Kim – done
– repair a vintage quilt for my cousin’s son – not even started
– plan and dyed fabric for the CSQ 2027 raffle quilt – nope
– plan what to make with the Eclipse leftovers – got the top made
– make Christmas cards – almost done

I completed 2 of my own veterans quilts and quilted 2 others.

I also quilted this beautiful Christmas quilt for my friend Kim. She gave me some of the scraps to use in one of my Christmas card designs.

I also made a quilt top of the Eclipse leftovers. This one will hang in the closet to be quilted much later. The three postcard designs will all be done tomorrow!

December is going to be quite social but I have some serious goals. There are things I really want to get done before mid-January, when we leave for Arizona. The list includes:

  • dyeing fabric and cutting kits for the bear quilt. It will be my Arizona project
  • make the memory tshirt quilt top, it will be quilted in the Spring
  • start repairing my nephew’s vintage quilts
  • quilt some veterans quilts
  • maybe start quilting Eclipse

I had never heard of a grounding mat. I looked it up, interesting! I had heard of grounding be being barefoot outside, so it isn’t a foreign concept to me.

I think you got a good bit accomplished in a holiday month.

I look at the grounding mat as something for when it’s not comfortable to be outside. It has improved our sleep considerably. We sleep deeper and get up less often. I use to get up as much as 4x every night. Now I usually sleep straight through or maybe get up once. I even take it with us on vacation.

Interesting to read about the grounding mat and that you find it helpful. I’ve been wondering about using one for sleep because most nights it’s pretty elusive for me. There seems to be two schools of thought – those that love them and those that feel they’re a waste of money so I guess I won’t know until I try it for myself.
