Finally I can start a couple of new projects! I still have to finish painting the guest house and I’ll work on that today. But I  can load a new quilt on the longarm and start a new crochet project.

Yesterday I cleansed my soul from hemming that dress by doing some outside work and dyeing some veterans quilt backs.

It’s not very exciting dyeing but I enjoyed it. I need to plan a new quilt so I can dye more fabric.

But I don’t need more fabric!

Before I think about that maybe I should finish a project.  It’s time to quilt Monty! I got it loaded last night and now I’m trying to decide on the thread.

I had planned to use the same thread as I did for Monty Scraps but it is a dark green that would stand out on this pale green background. I really need a more medium green but I refuse to buy more thread! I think one of these will work. I’ll look at it today with fresh eyes and make a decision.

I’m also starting a new crochet blanket.

It’s going to be a donation quilt exactly like this one. The orange and tan will be switched. Clearly, when this yarn went on sale I bought way too much of it! There will still be some leftover when this blanket is done sometime in 2027.

Another project I’m doing is going through boxes of old photos, selecting the few good ones and digitizing them. The rest are going in the trash. We never go through the old photos but we’ll see them now on the digital frame.

I have about 8 boxes like this to go through. So far, I’ve discovered that the quality of my photography skills was horrendous. I don’t even know why I kept most of these photos!

It looks like either one of those threads would go with that quilt. I have been buying King Tut and sewing thread on closeout sales on Superior’s website. They had select cones for $16.80 and sewing thread for 80 cents! I broke down and bought some since they had added several neutrals to the sale cones and the price was crazy good. The neutrals will come in hand for my bunkhouse quilts if I ever get started on those.

I feel you pain with the pictures. I ended up with the pictures after my dad died. I have sorted thru them a bit. If I can manage a trip to my sister’s house and I drive, I will take them to her and let her be the keeper!

I spent months going through all our old pictures and only kept the really good ones (why on earth do we think it’s important to take pictures of the Christmas tree when we use the same tree and the same ornaments every year???). I then spent time scanning some of the older photos and uploading them in to Ancestry. After that I gave some of them to family members and the rest I simply chucked out. Very cathargic!

We often agonize over thread colors when it’s not necessary.I feel either of the 2 you have selected will be just fine!Sent from my iPhoneOn Oct 28, 2026,
