Trailside Quilt

Our guests will arrive tonight and I got Trailside done for their bed yesterday. A deadline is a very good thing for me.

This quilt is made from a vast amount of leftover fabrics from the Monty quilt. Monty is yet to be quilted. The deadline for that one is December. It is based on this pattern and comes together really quickly and easily.

When I dyed the fabric for Monty I dyed two different light fabrics (tan and green) for the background. I used the green in Monty so I had a large piece of tan to work with. This quilt was the perfect pattern to use a big piece of background. I did have to dye more of the dark brown for the inner border and binding. I still have a lot of scraps left and am working on an idea for the rest of the scraps.

The back is a hand dyed green. It’s quilted with a pantograph called Woodgrain. I used Magnifico thread on top and So Fine in the bobbin. I didn’t have one thread break!

Now it’s time to make plans for the scraps and to start a couple of new projects. Of course, there’s a steady stream of veterans quilts to quilt too.
