2 more veterans quilts plus a new toy

My week has been focused on my annual basement deep clean. I was beyond happy to finish it yesterday. I even had some time left to finish up the 2 veterans quilts. This one was made by Peg.

She’s been focused on making quilts from her scrap bins and this is a very pretty one.

I think the next one was made by Karen. She gave us several tops at the last meeting. This looks like another successful scrap quilt.

I have 2 more veterans tops to quilt but I’m going to do my Trailside quilt next.

As to the new, I took Mom to pick up her sewing machine from the repair shop. While there I bought myself a new travel machine.

My Gem Gold is almost 30 years old and is pretty worn out. I did some test sewing and love the stitch quality and was very excited to see that it has an integrated walking foot.

I haven’t had the luxury of an integrated walking foot since my old 7550. I’m looking forward to giving this machine a workout at the next club sewing days.

Early Merry Christmas to me!

Fun to have a new travel machine! I had a Gem Gold for a number of years too. When I got my new embroidery machine, it became the travel machine as it is small and not too heavy without its embroidery unit. I was trying to downsize and sold three antique machines, my Gem and one workhorse Kenmore.

I’m really surprised to see the integrated feed looks just like a Pfaff. I bet the patent has run out so the technology can be used by other brands now.

My Gem Gold got lost in a move … never made it from MN to GA with the rest of the stuff. It hasn’t been a big problem but I do kind of miss having a smaller machine when we go to Maine. I don’t usually take one with me anymore and I usually just work on knitting and crochet the month we’re up there.

Love both the Veteran quilts! They’re both like ones I make a lot of…. My Strips and Strings Log Cabins and Forest Bricks!
