A new travel project

When I finished the Monty quilt I had a lot of leftover fabric including 5 yards if an alternative background. I had dyed 2 (pale green and tan) for the background because I was undecided. I ultimately used the green for Monty. I also dyed 6 yards of the gradient border and used less than 2.  I knew that I had plenty of fabric for another quilt. I spent days looking for a pattern idea and thought I had found the perfect pattern. I ordered it and waited about 10 days for it to arrive

It’s a very cute pattern and as soon as I got out my fabrics I realized that my quilt would be way too brown for this happy pattern. Plus none of my pieces were big enough for the leaves. I wasn’t allowing myself to pull any new fabrics.  This is a leftovers quilt, not a big new project. I’ll use this pattern for something else.

I went back to the internet and found a pattern called  Trailside.

I put it in EQ to make it queen sized. This will make a great new quilt for the guest house. Where you see the white border will be a gradient.

It’s made with 2 simple blocks and I got it cut out in 2 days.

I’m not going to work on this one right away. I just wanted to make sample blocks to verify my cutting.

Mom, Kim and I are going to the beach in a couple of weeks and this will be my travel sewing project.

I pack up any remaining scraps just in case…

This should be easy and fast. I do have to dye some of the dark brown for the inner border and binding but that’s all that I’ll need new for this one.

Ive also been testing designs for Mom’s quilt. I’m getting close to a plan. But today is errand day so there might not be any quilting.
