Yesterday I was working on the binding for the memory quilt. The binding is made of strips from plaid shirts. I didn’t do any planning or measuring, I just pieced them into a long strip and started sewing them to the quilt.
Once I got it on, I noticed that this particular plaid is in all 4 corners. It happens to be the thinnest of the fabrics and is the best for the thick corners. I didn’t even have a seam fall into a corner. That never happens! When I make scrappy bindings, I always have to adjust the strip seam at least once for a corner.
When I got back to the beginning the starting and ending fabrics were the same to make an invisible join.
Everything on this quilt has been like this. I quilted the whole thing without even one thread break or tension adjustment.
The quilt will be finished today. All I need is information from his Mom for the label. I woul love to deliver it this weekend.
