Catalina State Park and some crochet

I mentioned last time that we were planning a drive up Mount Lemmon. In the end we decided against it. It wasn’t that long ago that we tested my altitude sickness so it didn’t seem wise to push it all the way to 9000 feet for something guaranteed to make me sick

Instead, we sunned at the pool and I checked out a local quilt shop and yarn shop. I escaped without buying anything.

Yesterday we decided to take a hike at Catalina State Park. It’s a beautiful park with trails for all skill levels. At the main trailhead there is this cool mosaic that I had to stop and study for a minute.

We’ve had some rain here so there was actually a little water in the wash and we were treated to poppies in bloom along the way. It was a lovely hike and we’ll be back for sure.

I haven’t done any sewing in a couple of days. I’ve been really focused on finishing a book that I was reading about Tombstone.  We’re planning to visit there soon. I have made a little progress on the big blanket.  This is made with two different colorways of the yarn. I didn’t have enough of either to make a whole blanket.  I’m alternating the colors and I  don’t think it will be a bad effect.

Today we are heading south about an hour to go birdwatching with our friends. Maybe there will be some sewing when we get home.

California Poppies! My favorite! Enjoy that weather for all of us buried under the cold and snow! Patty

I’m glad you are enjoying yourself. Some times I think we need a break from making quilts and refresh with hikes and books
