I had a fun day of dyeing yesterday.  My ankle handled the standing and many trips upstairs. Even better, I remembered how to dye!

Most of these are for the bear quilt but there’s also a backing for the memory quilt and some stash yardage to use up some older dyes. They can become backgrounds for future quilts.

I even got to dye a new gradient. It is for the bear quilt and was inspired by my old Woodlands gradient.

I also got started on the new blanket. I really enjoy this pattern and have another yarn in the stash that would work well. Premier Puzzle would also work great.

My ankle is doing really well. I was able to get outside and bring in a lot of firewood and clean up the woodpile. That’s the most movement than I’ve done in 10 days. I have been able to keep up with some upper body weight by doing a couple of seated programs so I haven’t been a total sloth. But it felt great to get outside and actually do something. Later in the day I felt the sprained joint pop back in place. It was like a free trip to the chiropractor! I was up and down the stairs over a dozen times yesterday with no pain. I still can’t do any quick twisty movements but it’s a lot better.

I won’t be posting a lot this week. Our friends from England arrive today, Mom and I have day trips today and tomorrow and we have Christmas with my brother’s family on New Year’s Eve. In between I will try to make some progress on the memorial quilt and get a few veterans quilts quilted.

Looks like lots of yardage in those dyeing tubs. The gradient looks great. Hope you’ll show the yardage before you cut into it. Glad to hear the ankle is doing good. Happy New Year!

You always astound me with just the thought of wrestling all that fabric under the iron. To say nothing about rinsing all the excess dye out. I’ll bet you’re relieved you only have to do enough for yourself.
