Last crochet finish for 2025

Thanks to a sprained ankle that gifted me lots of extra time sitting, I finished this blanket yesterday. It finished about 50″ x 72″ and will be a great comfort blanket for a tall person.

This is at least the third time that I’ve made this pattern. The yarn is Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in colors that I got on deep discount a few years ago. I have enough of this tan and orange do make another blanket reversing the position of the two colors.

Here’s the construction information:
Pattern: Sober Granny by Christa of The Secret Yarnery – she has excellent tutorials and patterns
I did not do the border
K (6.5 mm) hook
Cast on 33 sets of 4 + 2
Color pattern:
8 rows tan
3 rows gray
5 rows orange
3 rows gray
Start and finish with the navy
I did 5 sets of the pattern plus a finishing 8 rows of tan
Last row:
CH3, 2 DC in 1st SC from previous row
* SC in CH2 space from previous row, 3 DC in SC from previous row*
SC in last CH2 space

I ran out of the speckled dark gray yarn so I had to get some gray heather for the past pattern set. I suppose that I could have finished it after 4 sets but this colorway is so masculine that I wanted to provide a blanket for a tall man. IRL, it’s not terribly noticeable.

I always keep a big blanket in progress and pulled this yarn for the next project. A few years ago I made a series of blankets in various colorways of this yarn. I loved working with it and bought out every color that Webs had in stock at that time. It was 50% of. These are 2 different colorways but I think they will blend together fine for a donation blanket.

That is a nice pattern for the blanket, kind of like a basketweave. The colors are nice too. There probably aren’t many made that long for tall people so yours will be especially appreciated.

I watched some of the video. That is actually a very easy pattern for such an interesting design in the final blanket.
I wouldn’t have noticed the color change if you had not mentioned it.

That is a great guy blanket for sure. I really really like the new yarns you will be working with.

That is a really nice pattern. Perfect for a guy. Change up the colors for a gal. Good for a teen, too. Your stitches are so even.

I always have to make tall blankets for our family (oldest son is 6’4″ and the youngest is 6’8″) although one of our daughters-in-love is an itty-bitty person so she’s easier to create for.

Enjoyed the wee peek of your Christmas stockings!
