Memory Quilt – part 6

I made good progress on the quilt yesterday after a slow and lazy Christmas Eve morning.

My goal was to get the cross in the middle done because if I didn’t like that then the whole payout would need to change.

I wanted to add Zane’s initial somewhere in the quilt and I thought that the center of the cross might be a nice touch. I did consult with a couple of people to make sure that doing that was OK and then I had to pick the colors. The background is from his UNC shirt. I thought that black letters would be too harsh. I tried blue and tan (to go with the block frames). After seeing it on the design wall, I chose the blue letters. Since the tshirts are all fused, I could use the Cricut to fuse the monogram.

I cut the plaids on the diagonal and, after more bad measuring, I got the cross together and started framing more blocks. I’m really happy with the cross and I think it’s appropriate that I worked on this on Christmas Eve. Now that it’s done, the rest should be pretty straight forward.

I won’t get to work on this today, I’m going to do dyeing today. I’ll be dyeing 2 quilt backs and fabrics from the bear quilt that I want to work on in Tucson.

I hope you are having a great Christmas!

The memory quilt is looking good. What a great idea to embroider his initials! What a nice keepsake.
