Yesterday I spent the day working on some Christmas gifts. One of the recipients occasionally reads the blog so I won’t share them until they are gifted.

I can tell you that I was in my sewing room most of the day with a view of our first snow of the winter. This photo is looking out the front door just as the snow stopped mid-morning. It was beautiful!

I did make a little project Wednesday evening though. When I was telling Kim about my fire log carrier she mentioned that she needed one. I didn’t have a big enough piece of the canvas that I used on mine but I had this.
Several years ago I tried selling fabric at a quilt show. I had a big sign printed for my booth. The vending experiment didn’t work out but I kept that sign thinking I might be able to use it as a drop cloth or something.
It’s now going to have a new life as a log carrier. I folded it in half lengthwise to make it as sturdy as possible. Since I had the measurements and experience from the first one, this one only took about an hour to make!
My only reservation is that it might be slippery but I can fix that if it’s a problem. She doesn’t have far to haul her wood so it should be OK.
The other thing I did was wash a lot of patriotic batik fabrics. Hancock’s of Paducah had a sale so I bought a lot of patriotic batiks for veterans quilt kits. I’m not sure when I’ll get around to cutting these out, but they should last me a couple of years.
I didn’t just wash them. I soaked them to make sure all the excess dye came out.
Today we are visiting friends in Charlottesville but there will be time this weekend to start the memory quilt.
