Fidget Mats

Fidget Mats

From The Heart is the local organization where I donate all the things that I make for donation. They often put out calls for fidget mats for memory patients. I hadn’t really thought about making any until I decided to clear out some extra placemats. We all know that I have enough supplies to add to them. This was a fun project to do after craft camp.

I had 6 placemats in this set. I added furry fabric, zippers, buttons, velcro, some stretchy green trim, ricrac and yarn.

These were a lot more fun to make than I expected. When I put the supplies away, I’ll try to organize them in a way to make getting them back out less messy.

I have another set of 4 placemats that I’ll work on today after I clean the basement.  I have a list of chores to get done before we leave for Maine next week, and “basement” is next on the list.

Making those is a very kind thing to do. Mom is not to the point of using one of those yet. And she may never get there. But she does seem to be obsessed with paper goods (paper towels and toilet paper) She always has some in her pocket and I have to clean out her walker bag every couple of weeks (when I get the opportunity)

so, all that to say, I really appreciate that you do this for a local charity.

I have never made the fidget mats but I bet I have enough supplies to do them too.

Fidget mats are fun to make and certainly can use up a whole lot of scraps. I’ve seen fidget muffs too with things added inside as well as out.
