25 veterans quilts

I didn’t spend a full day at sewing yesterday because I needed to cut more fabric. Instead, I came home early in the afternoon and got to quilting these 2 veterans quilts. This one was made by Becky. She said the 2″ x 4″ fabrics were from the year 2000 when one of the quilt shops sold a piece of every fabric that they brought into the shop that year. She’s been holding on to them for a long time and decided it was time to do something with them. She made this quilt and another with black and white sashing. She gave a bunch to my Mom and says that she still has some leftover.

This quilt was made by Mom. It’s kind of an insanity quilt. The little blocks are 1.5″ finished and they were donated to her anonymously. No one will confess to leaving them on her sewing table! I would have probably thrown them out but I love what she did with them!

This quilt marks the 25th veterans quilt that I’ve quilted so far this year. This will be the last until September.

One and half inch half square triangles is a little crazy. Of course, as I write this I have a basket of even smaller HST blocks in blue sitting on the table right next to me.

In sewing the past 2 days I worked on this quilt that will be another veterans quilt. This is a sample of 4 blocks I made months ago. Now I have all the right leaning blocks pieced. I’ll cut some more strings today and put it away to finish at September sewing.

I’ll pick up Ella this afternoon and we will get started on making lots of things for her new puppy that her family will pick up Monday.

I really like your Mom’s quilt. I also like the one you are working on. I hope Ella has a wonderful time again this year.

I love the quilt your mom made. Someone saved her a lot of cutting time. I like Becky’s quilt too.

25 this year is an impressive number!!

Your mom must be the most patient person in the world to piece all those itty bitty squares together so perfectly.
