Ready for new projects

Ready for new projects

Let me start with the new website. You’ll need to switch over there soon! I will not be posting here much longer. Here’s the info

The blog is at vickiwelshmakes.com , you can subscribe for emailed posts on the site.
For Feedly, Inoreader of Bloglovin you can find it at https://vickiwelshmakes.com/feed/

These new projects are my inspiration to have the website switch done by the end of this weekend.

Now, on to projects. I have all the fabrics ready for the Eclipse quilt! The goal is to get it cut out by the end of July so it can be my project for Maine.

In case you are wondering, this painting is the inspiration for the guest room and the colors for the Eclipse quilt.

The room is mostly ready. The bed is all set up and I had one side table. I got this little solid cherry table this past weekend at an auction….for $26!

I still need a bench or something for people to put their luggage on and I’ll keep an eye on auctions. Something will come up eventually.

These are the reject fabrics. They will work great in future veterans quilts paired with some patriotic batiks.

Another future project is a garment! A friend gave me this embroidered linen and I immediately thought about a jacket. The pattern came in yesterday. I’ve pre-washed the fabric. It’s ready to go but I’m going to make it from some other fabric first for fit. It will be something that can be worn but, if it turns out bad, I’ll be happy to toss it too.
I’m looking forward to making a garment again.

That’s nice that the blue hand dyed were the rejects so you can immediately move them to the veteran quilts fabric pile.

I wish I could get interested in clothing sewing again but I just can’t seem to. The last 2 shirts I made turned out to be terrible fits and I just don’t have the patience for alterations any more. When I was a custom seamstress in my 20s, I fit some really strange body shapes, and successfully too.

For now I have both blogs on my reader list. I will remove the other one in time.

I love those dyed fabrics. I am looking forward to seeing the eclipse quilt.

That fabric should make a very nice jacket. I can’t imagine that you wear skirts often or I would say you should use it for a skirt.

That fabric is perfect for a nice jacket. I know those sleeves would be ‘soup dippers’ for me because I’m not always all that careful.

I’ve got you on my Feedly list! Great find on the little cherry wood table. Can’t wait to see the design for your Eclipse project.
