Notes on Past Crochet Projects

When I shut down the Weebly blog and website I left behind all of my blog posts since 2016. Most of the information in those posts aren’t relevant for me going forward but my crochet notes are in those blog posts. Since I mostly make charity projects and use the same projects over and over, I need those notes. Here are my notes. I don’t think they will be helpful for anyone but me.

Pattern: Sober Granny by Christa of The Secret Yarnery – she has excellent tutorials and patterns
Idid not do the border
K (6.5 mm) hook
Cast on 33 sets of 4 + 2
Color pattern:
8 rows navy
3 rows light blue
5 rows white
3 rows light blue
Start and finish with the navy
Last row:
CH3, 2 DC in 1st SC from previous row
* SC in CH2 space from previous row, 3 DC in SC from previous row*
SC in last CH2 space

Feather and Fan Blanket – Universal Major Yarn, K Hook, although you could get away with one size larger. I cast on 122 stitches with an L hook and did one row of single crochet before starting the pattern. The pattern is the Inchworm Baby Blanket. It calls for 2 colorways of this yarn but I only used 1.
If you prefer video tutorials here’s one from Fiber Spider that I used to supplement the written pattern.

Yarn: Yarn Bee Sweet Delight, 3 weight, 340 yards/skein and I used 3 for the body and about 1/2 for the border.
Pattern: Vintage Inspired Fan Stitch blanket by Blossom Crochet
Hook Size H, 5.0mm

The blanket finished about 34″ square, a nice size for a baby quilt.
The pattern is from Yarnspirations and is called Bundle in Blue. I can’t find it on Yarnspirations anymore, but I did find it here.
The yarn is Sundance Scramble from Herrschner’s. I love how this yarn looks but I don’t really love the yarn. I have a feeling it’s going to pill based on one small washing sample. I used a 5.5mm hook.

The Dude Blanket, I made 7 of them

Blanket finishes 48″ x 66″
Cascade Cartwheel Yarn, 7 balls,
Pattern from BagODay Crochet, pattern repeat is 8 stitches plus 3
I used a K hook and chained 147 stitches (with an L hook)

Pattern: Even Squares Blanket from Daisy Farm Crafts except that I used half double crochet instead of the pattern stitches. I did the pattern in 4 row sets.
Yarn : Brava Worsted from Knitpicks in White, Marina, Cornflower and Seashell. It was the first time using this yarn and I liked it a lot.
Hook: I, 5.5mm

The pattern is Woodland Heather Baby Blanket. It’s free from Daisy Farm Crafts. I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn and an I (5.5mm) hook and cast on 95 stitches. The resulting blanket is sturdy (from the stitch) and very soft.

Pattern is Alpenhaus Easy Crochet Throw
Yarn is Lion Brand Mandala Ombre in the color Happy, 3 cakes
Chained 180 stitches with a J hook, worked pattern with I hook.
Finished size approximately 27″ x 36″

Yarn is I Love This Yarn Sport Weight, held 2 together throughout. I’m very happy with the yarn. It’s soft and easy to work with.
White, 4 – 5 skeins
Soft Blue, 3 – 4 skeins
Navy 2 – 3 skeins
Hook size 6.5mm (K)
Pattern for the layout of the plaid: Crochet Pink Plaid Baby Blanket
Pattern for the stitch directions and border: Crochet Nine Square Gignham Baby Blanket
Chain 105 with 7mm (L) hook

The pattern is Wrapped In Love
The yarn is Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, about 750 yds
Hook size I (5.5mm)

The pattern is worked in sets of 12 stitches (plus 1). I cast on 121. If I was to make it again I’d probably do 109 stitches. I used every inch of 3 skeins of the variegated and added the border in some leftover white from another project. I finished it with Crab Stitch in the variegated.
The pattern for the border is:
1 row of DC in ever stitch (there are 2 DC for each row in the blanket)
1 row of alternating DC and chain
1 row of DC in every stitch
1 row of Crab stitch

The pattern is from the BagODay YouTube Channel and is called Easy Crochet Blanket. It really is easy! My starting chain was 108 and the simple pattern is worked in 3 stitch clusters of one SC and 2 DC.

The border is 5 rows of SC. The finished size is about 32″ x 38″.

I used the Purple Gingham pattern from Daisy Farm Crafts. It’s really well written and they have nice videos to help out. Don’t like this one? They have over a dozen gingham blanket variations. I’ll be making more for sure.

The yarn is Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, 4 weight acrylic. I bought 2 skeins of the peach and 1 each of orange and white. I d love this yarn. It’s really easy to work with and is very soft. It makes Red Heart seem like sand paper.

Hook size K for the body and J for the border

Granny Square about 32″ square
Yarn is Lion Brand Mandala in color Mermaid, 3 balls
Hook size H
This will be doanted to a local charity

For this one I managed the color changes instead of just stitching the yarn continuous and letting the colors fall wherever. It meant that I rolled a lot of balls of the individual color but it was so worth it. I finished it with 2 rows of SC

Pattern is from BagODay Crochet on YouTube and it is very easy and the blanket is 112 stitches wide. The multiple is 8 stitches plus 3.
Yarn is Herrschner’s Chunky Plush and I used 4 skeins of Aran and 3 of Tropical Green
Hook size 9mm (M/N)
Finished blanket is 50′ x 64′

I really like this pattern by LaDria LaVea. There are dozens of hexi cardigans on the web but I liked the bobble detail around the front edge of this one and her tutorial style is entertaining but also really clear and thorough. The yarn is Lion Brand Heartland in the color New River Gorge. I used a J hook.

The blue one is this YouTube tutorial from Spiffy Handmade. I like this pattern a lot. It’s also the pattern I used for the purple one below. Kim liked the purple one because it matched her coat so I gifted her that one. For the blue hat I used Lion Brand Jeans yarn and an I hook. The purple one is Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice and a J hook.

The gray mottled hat is a pattern that I’ve had printed for a while but it doesn’t seem to be available online anymore. It’s a standard DC increase rounds and then straight with back post DC. It’s a very flattering hat. This one is made with Yarn Bee Velvety Smooth and a J hook.

The gray specked cuffed beanie is made with the Crochet Baby James Beanie from Daisy Farm Crafts. The yarn is Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice using a I hook. The pom poms for the blue hat and this hat are from Amazon. This is the 5th hat I’ve made with this pattern.

The pink baby hat was made with this Crochet Shell Hat Pattern and the headband was made with the Blueberry Dance Headband pattern. The yarn is Brava Worsted from Knitpicks and I used a I hook.

The purple and tan hats are going to be donation hats and they are made with super bulky yarn and a N hook using a BagODay Youtube tutorial. It’s a super simple single crochet spiral pattern and it’s a very warm and nice looking hat.
