Keepsakes Quilts

This quilt was designed to use large scale prints and for making t-shirt quilts. The first quilts I made used these large florals. Then I made 2 t-shirt quilts using the same process. The key to this pattern is that it’s a process tutorial, not a pattern. The PDF walks you through each step with specific directions for preparing t-shirts for including them in a quilt. You don’t know the exact layout and look of the quilt at the beginning. Just take each step one at a time and you will have a beautiful quilt in the end.

The floral quilt was made as a retirement gift for a friend. The t-shirts (above and below) were made as memory quilts for 2 young men from their father’s clothing.

Mitchell’s quilt

These quilts were difficult to make because of the fragrance from the detergent used to wash the clothes. I tried for 6 months to get the fragrance out and nothing worked. I eventually had to just limit my exposure to an hour at a time. It was worth it in the end.

I custom dyed spiral backings for the quilts based on each boy’s favorite sports team colors.

Shereen’s Peaceful Garden

This quilt was made in 2009 for Mitchell and Cory’s Mother.
