Dyeing results and a little quilting

We have been very fortunate to not need any major projects done around the house for several years. 2026 is the year of all those delayed projects.  This week has been about getting quotes for 2 new HVAC systems. All I can say is that it’s pretty shocking how different 3 quote processes can be. Thursday was almost totally taken up with all that. We were very lucky to have 2 systems that lasted 25 years but it sure made for quite the sticker shock! Next Wednesday we will get our new systems. It will be just in time for some hot days.

Next Tuesday will be the third contractor visit to quote replacing our shower. It’s not a straightforward job and the first two visits did not go well. Fingers crossed that the third time is the charm!

I’ve gotten a little bit of quilting done in between. I’m working on the dark borders with some very simple ruler work. I have one more dark border and the outermost border that will get something slightly different.

The last section are these blocks. There are a bunch of them and I still don’t know how I’m going to quilt them. Something will come to me eventually.

I would have gotten more quilted yesterday but we watched the Artemis return last evening. Very cool.

I’ve also been washing out the stuff I dyed.

There are 2 green wide quilt backs for Monty and the quilt I’m making from Monty scraps. The dark brown is for a border and binding for the Monty Scraps quilt.

I dyed a tshirt that I purchased on vacation and a bunch of toddler tees for little Cora. I’ll get the Cricut fired up soon to make them fun.

I promise that the colors are better in real life. I took these photos after dark in a bedroom.

I dyed 5 veterans quilt backs: 4 blue and 1 gold. These will provide backing for 10 quilts.

Finally, I used some leftover dyes on tea towels. These will get some screen printing. They make great quick gifts.

Again,  the colors in the photos aren’t accurate.

This weekend is dedicated to quilting Mom’s quilt and working on Cora’s little tshirts.
