Pillow progress

Pillow progress

I made great progress on the pillows yesterday.  The only thing I had to do was laundry and an acupuncture appointment.  Otherwise, I was focused on the pillows.

I got all of the squares cut for 11 pillows, 275 squares.

Then I started on the backs. Some are really easy (bottom). The top ones required some piecing and zippers. I got 6 done and only 5 left to go. The rest will take more piecing, like the pink and blue one. By the end of today should be able to clean up the sewing room of the clothing remnants.

I’m starting to feel that I’m close to a delivery date for this project.

It all takes time! When I was out in California a few years ago making pillows at my brother’s house he would go out and run errands or clean up the yard. When he came back he would see what I was doing and say “Is that all you got done? What have you been doing?” and then laugh. Patty

I think designing takes up more of my time than actual sewing, because I spend too much time weighing the options. And yes, cutting the squares and even making the backs are design options.

The family is going to love those – just be prepared for the fact that they may cry when they are delivered.

Working assembly line is a good way to approach making so many pillows. They’re going to be treasured once you deliver them.
