I had another half day with Ella yesterday but I forgot to take any photos. We finished the neck embroidery on her sweatshirts, made a small cube pillow for a dog toy and made cookies for her to take home to her family. The cube was interesting because, as you well know, it’s a ton of “Y” seams and we made it with Minkie! I interfaced it to make it easier to handle. It also helped to hide any mistakes. But, for a new sewist, she did great with the Y seams! During her break, while I cut out and pinned the cube, she organized my pin cushions.
We watched a lot of Christmas movies and had a lovely time. She’s already planning projects for summer craft camp.

After I took Ella home, I vacuumed up all the Minkie bits and got the memory quilt back out. The first task was to interface all the rest of the dark clothing bits for the sashings. Hopefully I have enough fabric there for the sashing and a 2″ outer border.
I also interfaced the sleeves of the plaid fabrics. Technically, they don’t need interfacing because they are woven but I was afraid that they would take too much stress with all the surrounding fabrics being so heavy. That took most of the day.

Next I got the sashing added to the Mud Life block and then decided that I want to do the cross in the center next to see if my plan is going to work.

I cut the plaid on the diagonal for more interest and will patchwork the pieces into the cross. Chris and I both love how it’s looking. The plaid will be repeated for the binding. Today I will have most of the day to work on this so I hope to get the cross done and another section or two of the sashed blocks.
I have a chiropractor appointment first thing this morning for my ankle. It is doing so much better. I can’t credit the red light and DMSO enough. I’ve never had a sprain this bad but have also never had one heal so quickly.
I will be posting every day the rest of this week. We don’t have any Christmas plans this week but I will take a few days away from the blog next week for a couple of holiday events and to hang out with our friend from England after they arrive.
If you are celebrating, I hope you have a wonderful holiday. If not, I hope you get to do whatever you want to do…like me!
