A new veterans quilt top

Yesterday I finished this veterans quilt top. I love it! Every couple of years I cut out about 20 quilt kits so that I have them ready to sew. I had forgotten about this one. When I pulled it out and looked through the pieces,  I wasn’t very confident about it.

My hesitation was because of this fabric. It’s a failed dye experiment. I’ve tried using it several times with no success. It turns out that I just wasn’t cutting it small enough. I think it really sparkles in this quilt.

I probably won’t get this quilted until later in December.

Today, I  will be gone all day with an appointment and visits with friends. Tomorrow it’s back to Christmas postcards.

The top turned out great! You took a challenging fabric and made it shine! Patty

Lovely quilt! At first, I thought the floor was a golden border and I thought it looked nice. Bonnie Hunter always says that if the fabric is still ugly, cut it smaller! (Not that your hand-dyed fabrics are ever ugly…)

I like that blue. The other fabric was a learning experience now you know!

I think the “failed” dye experiment worked great in this quilt. I really love the variations in the star points.

I love surprises like that when strange fabrics work so well. The quilt top is a definite success.

Glad you were able to come up with a use for a fabric you didn’t care for and that you’re happy with the end result (rightly so, I might add).
