A play day

A play day

Yesterday I was invited to an art play day with my friends, Marcy and Margaret. Marcy and Margaret have great stashes of fabric paint and stamps. I decided to take some ugly fabrics and see if I could fix them.

This is the first ugly fabric.

I’m much happier with this. I added some little squares in gray with a stencil, then a dark gray spiral stamp, a pink stamp and some pale gray dots. I think it’s much improved.

This is the second ugly. I do not like the stamped gray flowers.

This is much better! I added 3 layers of stamps: large leafy image in navy blue, small leafy design in red and light blue circles. It was a fun afternoon.

After I came home, I got one of the veterans quilts quilted. I’ll finish this one today.

Just before dinner I received an Amazon order that included a book on DMSO. I bought some to try on my achy hands and it’s worked great. I decided to get the book to learn more about it. Do any of you use DMSO? If so, how do you use it?

Not sure if my previous comment went through. I use DMSO in the gel form from Amazon. Best info from The Midwestern Doctor Substack. I use it on my neck, shoulder, leg and knee. Disappeared the varicose veins on one leg. Used for about 6 months daily. A bit of a sting initially, but not bad. Dries out the skin, so moisturize. Ask me questions.

I have typically dyed fabrics that I don’t love. I had one that I designed and had printed by Spoonflower. (ages ago) When it came, the colors were off and I hated it. I overdyed it in a dark blue and used the back side rather than the printed side. I am sorry that it is almost all gone.

Wow, you did have some stamping fun with fabric paint! Both fabrics look more interesting now.

You certainly improved those fabrics 100% – amazing the difference.

As for DMSO, I’ve never heard of it. Had to have a consult with Mr. Google and now I’m intrigued. Will be interested in hearing more about what you think about it.

Amazing how much your fabric changed. When you use a stamp do you paint the stamp with a brush and how to avoid getting too much paint so it doesn’t leave a crisp edge to the design or do you not worry about that?

The fabrics are so much better after some revision! Never heard of DMSO.
