Veterans Quilt Delivery

Yesterday was a special day. I didn’t work on my new jacket project. Instead, my friend, Marcy, got to deliver 48 veterans quilts to the new VA facility in Fredericksburg. We were given a tour of the new facility and got to present 3 quilts to veterans that are patient volunteers. It was a very rewarding visit to hear how much they appreciate the quilts. If you want to read about our visit you can see it on the CSQ Blog.

I was so inspired that I came home and loaded the next 2 veterans quilts for quilting. I’ll probably quilts these today before I get back to the jacket project.

On Monday, I got my sewing machine back from the repair shop and everything seems to be in perfect working order. I can already tell that the tension is better. They replaced the beehive spring inside the tension dial.

Unfortunately, Mom’s machine is dead. It had a great life but there are broken gears and replacements aren’t available.

The shop is All Things New in Midlothian, VA and the owners are very friendly and seem to absolutely love fixing our machines. I was very happy with the service and the price was VERY reasonable.

You ladies do such wonderful work for a great cause. Your tour sounds amazing, how rewarding that you got to hand out 3 quilts while you were there.

That is so heartwarming to know they are so appreciative of the quilt donations. The new facility is amazing. Great work, all of you in your group!

I am sure it was a delight to deliver those veteran quilts.
I am looking at your Juki and wondering just how old it is. Mine is a much newer model with an extra tensioning disk (pre-tensioning) by the little “3 hole” silver guide.

What a great pile of quilts for some very deserving people! Too bad about your Mom’s machine.

That’s pretty incredible and lovely to know that your efforts are so much appreciated. It was fun to go on the tour and see the facility but even better to see some of the recipients of the quilts. I can see why you now feel inspired.

So glad your machine is working well but sorry about your Mom’s. Hopefully she has another one.
